I’ve always wanted to make strawberry preserves..but I just felt too intimidated to do it. I finally asked my mother-in-law to show us how to do it. Yesterday, Tuesday, River and I all went over and learned how to make preserves! It was a lot of fun and not too hard at all. Now, I am really excited to make them on our own this weekend after we go strawberry picking!
On Saturday, we were so excited because our book from Paper Coterie arrived! I had gotten a $40 coupon to their new store and I was so excited to check out their website and products. I decided we should do a book about our family and I thought it would fun if River got to write the story. She helped me pick out most of the pictures..though Tuesday and Quinn wanted to pick out their photos.
We really had a great time putting the book together! It was pretty easy to upload the photos and figure out how to change the text and move it all around. Once we were all done proof reading it….we ordered it. River didn’t understand why we had to wait for our book. She thought we would just get it right away!
When it arrived, River was so excited!! It was so nicely wrapped and it even came with a free necklace that River put on right away!! We instantly fell in love with the book. River has read it many times to lots of different people. I think she may have all the words memorized!
It will make a great keepsake for years to come. I’m already thinking about all the great gifts I could get at their store….and the prices are great. Wow, I sound like a commercial…but I’m really not getting anything from the company out of this post. I just thought that the whole thing was a great experience and I love how the book turned out! I will definitely be ordering from them again!
It was such a wonderful Mother’s Day. The weather was perfect, along with everything else!
I got breakfast in bed..and then we all got into bed and watched some bad tv. Then, we did some yard work….some..not a lot! Then we went off to my favorite Ethiopian restaurant in Philadelphia! Yum!
After we got back from dinner, I tried to take some family photos….
That didn’t go too well……they sort of got sillier and sillier…..It was a great day!

Well…eating chocolate rabbits, that is. This year, the Easter bunny brought solid chocolate bunnies..not hollow. Everyone decided the solid bunnies are much harder to eat!!
But they did agree that the solid bunnies are just as delicious as the hollow bunnies……
After taking the photos and going through the pictures..I couldn’t believe how many times River and Tuesday had almost the same expression……it was really funny. I don’t remember that ever happening before.

We had a lovely Easter weekend…we dyed eggs..and had the worst batch of egg dye….waiting for the eggs to turn into any type of color…took a LONG time……
But it was still fun…..though some of the eggs looked like they hadn’t even been dyed.
We got out the Easter baskets and set out carrots and water for the Easter bunny……
And then Easter morning….everyone searched for their basket and eggs!
Last Friday it was 76 degrees here! Absolutely gorgeous…we just had to go out to the park! We had a great time at the playground and then walking around the woods…..We felt like Spring had arrived…but it hadn’t…..yet, this week it has arrived..but it is freezing out again! Oh well…we enjoyed it while we had it!
I’ve just never been a big batter fan….cake batter, cookie dough batter, brownie batter….I just want to finish up, wash the dish and be done with it….
But not so with the rest of my family….it is considered a crime if I wash the bowl, spoons, spatulas or mixers without letting everyone lick the remains of every drop of batter! I just don’t get it……
I’ve gotten in trouble for accidentally putting the bowl in the sink and filling it with water…..this is just what I do…naturally…I cook and then I immediately clean..I don’t go around the house making sure everyone has a lick! Well, now I do…in fact, it has gotten so bad that we now have a rotating schedule..who gets the bowl, the spatula and the spoon and/or mixer! The things we do for our family……
Here are a few more shots from my birthday…..the one of just me….River took. It is times like these…when you watch what is going on in Japan…that you realize and remember how important family is…and living in the moment and appreciating all that you have….
