Easter weekend….

We had a lovely Easter weekend…we dyed eggs..and had the worst batch of egg dye….waiting for the eggs to turn into any type of color…took a LONG time……

But it was still fun…..though some of the eggs looked like they hadn’t even been dyed.

We got out the Easter baskets and set out carrots and water for the Easter bunny……

And then Easter morning….everyone searched for their basket and eggs!

Butterfly Wall….

So, we got inspired to make a butterfly wall after seeing Dana’s post about her butterfly wall on her blog, Made.

Everyone had a great time making butterflies.  We almost couldn’t fit them all on the spot I chose.

Next year, we will have to choose a bigger area for all the butterflies.

Some butterflies were made from paper.  Some were made from clay.  Some were made from pipe cleaners.  Some were made from newspaper.    Some had stickers, others had pom poms…..there was everything!!

And now that area looks awesome…some have even tried to fly away!

Cleaning Day…

So, today is the first day of Spring Break for my kids…so what better way to spend it….cleaning their rooms!  Aren’t I a mean mom!!???  We had such a productive day!!  Spring cleaning..a bit late!!  And River got lots of new stuffed animals!!

Closets were cleaned.  Bird cages were cleaned.  Beds were cleaned.  Shelves were cleaned….and many more things….and things even got dusted!

River’s room still needs some work…but we are working on it….and I wanted to get it all out of the way…so we could have the rest of the week to relax!  We filled lots of bags with trash and lots of bags to donate!!

Hope you had a great Monday!!

Ultrasound….17 weeks…

Last Wednesday, Tuesday came with me to my ultrasound appointment.  It was a lot of fun to have her with me…I wish I had taken some photos of the time we spent together…..but I guess you don’t always need photos….but I do have photos from the ultrasound.  Baby A is the boy…he is on my right side.

Baby B is the girl..she is on my left side…It is sort of funny knowing which baby is on which side….It is just amazing to see them moving around and so full of life….modern technology still freaks me out sometimes…..so different from the stories my mom told me about her pregnancies and births….

It was a great experience to share with Tuesday.

I’m not sure when the reality of twins will hit me….maybe not til I’m holding them in my arms….

Banana Cream Pie…a tradition….

Last week was my husband, Christopher’s birthday….so it was banana cream pie time….a birthday tradition.  I only make this recipe once a year.   Tuesday and River had great fun helping me make it.

There are a lot of components to the dish and they helped do most of the work…from the cutting to the assembling.

It is always more fun when you have help in the kitchen!

I think Tuesday’s favorite part is the eating of the pie…..it is only good for a few days..so it has to be eaten quickly, which Tuesday doesn’t mind!

A gorgeous March day…..

Last Friday it was 76 degrees here!  Absolutely gorgeous…we just had to go out to the park!  We had a great time at the playground and then walking around the woods…..We felt like Spring had arrived…but it hadn’t…..yet, this week it has arrived..but it is freezing out again!  Oh well…we enjoyed it while we had it!

What’s the big deal about batter……

I’ve just never been a big batter fan….cake batter, cookie dough batter, brownie batter….I just want to finish up, wash the dish and be done with it….

But not so with the rest of my family….it is considered a crime if I wash the bowl, spoons, spatulas or mixers without letting everyone lick the remains of every drop of batter!  I just don’t get it……

I’ve gotten in trouble for accidentally putting the bowl in the sink and filling it with water…..this is just what I do…naturally…I cook and then I immediately clean..I don’t go around the house making sure everyone has a lick!  Well, now I do…in fact, it has gotten so bad that we now have a rotating schedule..who gets the bowl, the spatula and the spoon and/or mixer!  The things we do for our family……

Snow Cream…..

Every time it snows….everybody wants to have snow cream for dessert.  In our family, there are two different ways to make it.  For either version, you need a big bowl of fresh snow!

For the first variety, all you need is maple syrup…just pour in as much as you like…which in our families case, is a lot!  Stir it up and enjoy…..very simple.

The other version involves sugar and vanilla!  It all depends on your mood.

For this version, all you do is add about a teaspoon of vanilla and sugar…..a lot of sugar, if you are one of my children!

And of course, you have to mush it all up before you can enjoy it!
